County Economic Development Technology Incubator

The
Technology Incubator was developed to encourage the creation
and development of technology based businesses in the Greenville
area. The County purchased a 60,000 square foot abandoned apparel
plant to convert to the business incubator. A key component
of the Incubator's layout is the use of common/shared laboratory
areas including:
- Wet
lab space
- Commonly
used laboratory equipment
- Centrifuges
- Concentrators
- Incubators
- Clean
up areas
- Dishwashers
- Sterilizers
- Autoclaves

EDA
has provided design plans for 4 projects to date:
- Renovation
of Common Areas - 1996 - 20,710 square feet
- Renovation
of Exterior - 1999 - 9,988 square feet
- Upfit
for Encelle, Inc. - 1999 - 9,988 square feet, R&D Production
of biotech related medical device for treatment of diabetes.
- Upfit
for Phyto-Myco - 1999 - R&D novel drug discovery for production
of microbial metabolites that are active against human diseases.
